Outcome of SDT Hearing
This notification relates to a Decision to bring Disciplinary Proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which reaches its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Respondent. The Tribunal had certified that there was a case to answer.
On 28 April 2026 the SDT considered and approved an Agreed Statement of Facts.
Mr. Lea was suspended from practice as a solicitor for the period of 12 months, such suspension to be suspended for a period of 24 months to commence on the 28th day of April 2026 subject to the following Restriction Order for a period of 24 months to commence on the 28th day of April 2026:-
The Respondent shall not publish or repost content on any social media platform which relates to matters of race, religion, or other protected characteristics, without first taking reasonable steps to ensure that such content complies with his professional obligations, including the SRA Principles 2019 and the SRA Warning Notice on Offensive Communications 2019. The Respondent shall ensure that any use of social media is undertaken in a manner consistent with maintaining public trust and confidence in the profession.
