Warning: Trademark email misusing the name of Paul David Arnold and Cross Legal Services Ltd

23 October 2025

An email has been sent misusing the name and details of a Paul David Arnold and Cross Legal Services Ltd in connection with purported trademark ownership.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that an email has been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor (see below) and firm of solicitors (see below).

A website at 'www.crosslegalservice.com' is also operating misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The email seen by the SRA is in relation to a supposed 'conflicting trademark enquiry.' The correspondence invites the recipient to 'secure ownership' of the company name and offers to assist with this process by providing 'the next steps for UKIPO registration.' They initially imposed a deadline to respond of 48 hours and then reduced this to 24 hours.

The email was sent from 'paul@notice.crosslegalservice.com' and in the email signature it misuses the name and SRA number of a genuine solicitor (see below) purporting to hold the position of a 'Registered IP Solicitor.' The signature also has the address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below) and the website of 'www.crosslegalservice.com.'

The email signature also contains a telephone number of '07877406737'.

Any business or transaction through the email address 'paul@notice.crosslegalservice.com', the website 'www.crosslegalservice.com' or the telephone number '07877406737' are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Cross Legal Services Ltd. The firm’s address is Ludgate House, 107-111 Fleet Street, London, EC41 2AB. Emails from the genuine firm use the domain '@crosslegalservices.com' (note the 's' after the word 'service').

The SRA also regulates a genuine solicitor called Paul David Arnold. The SRA number for the genuine solicitor is 397001.

The genuine firm and the genuine solicitor have confirmed they have no connection to the website, email and telephone number referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
