Warning: Website misusing the details of Alexandra Craig

A profile has been set up on the website Fiverr impersonating Alexandra Craig.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed by Pinsent Masons LLP that a freelance services marketplace called Fiverr has an individual purporting to be a solicitor called 'Alexandra Craig'.

The communication used Alexandra Craig's name and SRA ID and further correspondence from 'Alexander Craig' also states they are a 'solicitor for the claimant' and state their firm name as 'Pinsent Masons LLP'.

Any business or transactions through 'Alexandra Craig' who appears on the freelance services marketplace Fiverr is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Alexandra Craig whose SRA ID is 7023304. The genuine 'Alexander Craig' is employed at Pinsent Masons LLP as an Associate.

The genuine Alexander Craig has confirmed she does not have any connection to the website, or the individual referred to in the above alert.

The SRA authorises and regulates the genuine firm of Pinsent Masons LLP.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
