Warning: Trademark emails misusing the name of 'Alpiner Law Ltd' and the name and SRA ID numbers of multiple solicitors
5 February 2026
Several emails have been sent to different recipients misusing the name and details of Alpiner Law Ltd and various solicitors, in connection with purported trademark applications.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent misusing the name and SRA ID numbers of genuine solicitors (see below) and a firm of solicitors (see below).
The websites 'https://alpinerlaw.com/' and 'https://alpinerlaw.co' are also operating misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). The websites appear to have now been taken down by the host domain and /or have been suspended.
The emails seen by the SRA purport to be from the 'Trademark Division at Alpiner Law Ltd' in relation to supposed 'preliminary legal assessment' regarding a 'conflicting UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) trademark application'. The correspondence quotes 'Trade Marks Rules 2008' offering to 'prepare and file a UK trademark application' and invites the recipient to respond within '48 hours'.
The emails were sent from
- 'diane@notice.alpinerlaw.co'
- 'diane@notice.alpinerlaw.com'
- 'alex@notice.alpinerlaw.com'
- 'amy@notice.alpinerlaw.com'
- 'amy@notice.alpinerlaw.co'
The email signatures misuse the name and SRA ID numbers of genuine solicitors (see below) purporting to hold the position of a 'Registered IP Solicitor'. The signature also has the address of '21 Uldale Drive, Stockton-On Tees, England, TS16 9DW', telephone number '+44 1919340014' and the website 'https://alpinerlaw.com/'.
Any business or transaction through the email addresses, website or telephone number are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
