Warning: Emails and documents misusing the name of Samuel Ross and purporting to be from a law firm 'Lawyers Limited' and 'RP Legal Consulting'

Documents and emails have been sent misusing the name of Samuel Ross purporting to be from a law firm 'Lawyers Limited' and 'RP Legal Consulting' in relation to the recovery of funds.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen documents and emails which have been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor (see below) in relation to the recovery of funds.

A member of the public based overseas instructed 'Lawyers Limited' and 'RP Legal Consulting' in relation to the recovery of funds.

Documents seen by the SRA include the following contact details for 'Lawyers Limited' and 'RP Legal Consulting':

Addresses: 25 Dukes Avenue, Northolt, Middlesex UB5 5DA and 100 Cheapside, London, EC2V 6DT

Telephone: '(+44) 2080 893 109'

Documents seen by the SRA, relating to the scam have been sent using the email addresses: 'vera.delnon@imceu.com', 'info@walletts.uk' and 's.ross@lawyers.uk.com'.

The SRA has seen documents, bearing the name of a genuine solicitor (see below), including contract agreement, court claim form, invoice and Power of Attorney purporting to be genuine.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate any firm of solicitors called 'Lawyers Limited', or 'RP Legal Consulting,' nor a solicitor by the name of 'Vera Delnon'.

Any business or transactions through the above address, email addresses or telephone number are not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Samuel Ross (SRA number 433209) who has confirmed that he has no connection to the matter/purported law firms referred to in the above alert.

The genuine Samuel Ross has confirmed that they do not have any connection to the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
